I have a 63 April car with 327/340 carb engine. I'm looking to track down a 63 Car Owners Protection Plan Booklet. Is the image below what I'm looking for? Beyond condition, is there anything I should be looking for or staying away from?

Hi Lawrence. Yep. That's it. You probably already know, but you'll be looking for one with as many of the coupons still inside the booklet. And of course, if you can find one that someone hasn't already written their car vin and personal info in there. I found one with all the coupons and another with nothing written in it (but was missing just about all the coupons) and carefully made a complete one out of the two.

Yes , first or second edition . I would think Second Edition in your case .

It would be the sale date. The blank booklet was put in the car at St. Louis beginning mid production 1961. The selling dealer filled out all the information including VIN and buyers info. Starting with MY 1965, Protect-o-plates were affixed to the warranty books in St. Louis. The dealer then used address o graph tape for the owners name and address of the buyer onto the plate itself and generally put their (dealer) name and address on the back page.

In looking at the Tech Judging Book, presumably all 1st & 2nd Editions actually say 1st or 2nd Edition on the cover, correct?

I am not that familiar with 63 . I just knew there were a few printings . I THINK , first edition is just part number 3821481 and second edition is 3838412 . There may be more printings within those two #s as well !

For an April car the number on the back is 3838412. 2nd Edition.

The serial number on the booklet for my April car is C 599806.

It would be nice to find an unused book but the $$$ are over the top. Since we no longer judge the POP on later C2's we also do not look at the information written in the 63 Protection Plan booklet. I just look for the book.

I included a picture of my 1964 Chevrolet Corvette OPPB. I know this is not a '63 booklet but should give you a good idea of what you should see.

This is owners plan from Oct. 31, 1962. Coupe bought new by my brother-in-law in small Kansas town. Car was # 1664. Its a 2nd edition 3838412. Would seem from this that 1st editions had a short run.

The first edition has a yellow cover, and prevailing wisdom, including the 6th edition of the JG, says that the changeover to a coral cover was approximately January. I'm very surprised by the date and car number of the coral book above as car 1664 was built about October 15th...

I'd be curious to know which color was in the other 1963 Chevrolet cars, as the book contents were identical and there may have been some switcharoo at the plant or selling dealer that ended up with the coral book in an early car...
