First & Second Edition Owners Manual
Where is the break in the vin# from first and second edition (owners manual). My vin is 1Z8748S440146. 1978. Need a manual. Thanks

My 2/14/78 built car VIN 420951 came with the orange cover Manual from original owner. Says 460294 A on back cover. First page which is a form to get a free Corvette News subscription says 1977. I don't see an edition for my Owners Manual.

My research indicates 460294B was the OM for the regular model Corvette. That possibly could be the #?for the Helm re -issue manual. 14006820 was the OM for the Limited Edition Corvette. I don't have any research that indicates that there was a second edition for 1978. That doesn't mean that a second edition does not exist but I have not seen one. What you have leads me to think there man not have ever been a second edition. 1977 makes sense as 1978 cars were introduced in 1977.Comment

My reproduction Manual also says 460294 A. I believe it is a copy and not a reissue by Helms. It does Not have the page with the offer for the Corvette news free subscription. This full page of card stock is between the front cover and the first page and is a half page blank card stock between last page and back cover. Also not included is an 2 sided order form for Helms manuals. The paper is shinier and stiffer then the originals heavier newsprint types paper. I will start checking editions whenever I run across an original Manual and report back with edition info.

I have a 1978 Manual with 460294 B on the back cover that has the same 1977 card that Scott mentions.Comment
