Can you ID this TI Ignition Amplifier?

Hi all,

I recently got this TI amplifier in the attached pics. It is stamped 393 12V 1E on the side. I read about one version of the 393 that has all seven digits of the part number stamped and another 393 with just the 393 stamped. This unit does not look like other amplifiers I have seen, but I may not have seen the one with just the 393 only. Anyone know what the application for this one is?

This is not a TI amplifier. It's a VOLTAGE REGULATOR of the type sometimes used for applications equipped with TI but also used for other applications. At the moment, I can't tell you what the specific application is but I might be able to tell you later when I have more time to research it. It might have been used for some non-Chevrolet application. I've even seen these things used on some aircraft applications.

Might be aircraft. I seem to remember seeing one something like that as a voltage regulator on a Beachcraft.

It was used on big GM trucks & a service bulletin suggested it be retrofitted to 65 factory A/C Corvettes.

I recall seeing one on a Navion. However, I don't know if it was this exact same part number.

I have one stamped # 9000590__ 12V__ 7A that's NOS in the Delco box with 1_1/2 page instructions.
