Anyone know who markets the most correct door panel whiskers for a 67 roadster. Replacing my originals. THANKS!

Re: 67 roadster door panel whiskers
I just replaced them on my original 67 roadster door panels. I got them from LIC. The overall length and the shape of the stainless part was close to the originals.
The biggest issues where the bends. The double bend at the front of the door panel where it fits around the vent window isn't the same. The originals had more bend and that is not exactly easy to fix and not mess up the repros. Also there is some form fitting in a couple of areas that you will need to do to make the repro shaped like the original and follow the contours of the panel. At the rear of the panel, the original has an upward curve in it to fit the contour of the panel and the repro does not. You will need to carefully bend/form the repro to fit.
All this bending was hard to do and not put kinks/crimps in the stainless trim. I did better on the second one, but have some unwanted kinks in both. I'm not sure there is any way to bend them to fit and not get a little kinking.
I'm doubt any of the vendors will have them that exactly match the originals, but some may be closer.
Be sure and remove the old one and then use it as a guide to reshape the repro. I didn't do this on the first one, I tried to shape it as I stapled it to the panel and that did not work.
Another tip is I bought two very small needle nosed Vice Grip tools. I used these to clamp the trim to the door panel then drilled a 1/16" hole through the fuzzy/trim and the door panel then inserted and bent the staples. This worked very good.Don Harris

Re: 67 roadster door panel whiskers
Thanks, Don. I got a set from Corvette Central and I'm not sure what their source is but there is no bend for the vent window. The length is correct but no bend at all and originals definitely had a bend. I tinkered with them but there is no way to do this without kinking them. I like your needle nosed vice grip idea. I set them up on the panels with a series of X-clamps and speing clamps but decided not to even begin drilling them because there is no way to get them right.
i have a set of Knoch repo door panels and the whiskers on those at least have the correct bend at the vent window so I'm thinking they might be able to supply a correct set but I'm looking for experince with whiskers before I order another set.John- Top
