66 Big Block Number Question

I am looking at a 66 427/390
The date code is stamped T0I03IL
Shouldn't this read T0103IL (Jan 03)
Back in the day, could they have used the letter "I" in place of the number 1?

The use of the character "I" in place of a "1" was VERY, VERY common, especially with Tonawanda built engines. In fact, it's more likely than not that an "I" would be used.

Per Joe's information here is the broadcast code from my '66 390HP car -----

January 10th 1966 --- both the "01" and the "10" use an "I" instead of a "1".

Just two guys with the same last name----- Joe knows waaaay more than I do!!!!

(I recall that we actually met once--- 2005 Park City National???)
