I'm getting ready to send a bunch of parts in for cadmium plating, including the seat tracks for my 59. However, the track adjustment handle is chrome plated and welded in to the assembly retaining brackets. Assuming it isn't necessary to remove the handle, would I want to get the handle chrome plated first, or the tracks cadmium plated first? Can that be done with good results? ...or do people typically remove the handle and do it separately and then re-weld (those who don't just send it to a specialist)?
C1 Seat Track Restoration: Cadmium plate the tracks first or Chrome plate the handle?

i cut the handles off with a wizzer wheel(on an angle so as to know where to weld the two pieces back together after the handles return from the chop me shop). mike- Top

I removed my adjustment handles entirely without any cutting before sending the tracks off for cad plating.Keith MacRae
