    '88 Correct Transparent Top?

The TIM&JG for 87-89 for transparent tops states ""will have Engraved "ALMAC PLASTIC," "ACUVUE," and a Julian date".

    Mine has:
AlmaCoat 2000 (at least it looks like 2000)
    DOT 393 ASS
    M-214 6958
    ALMAC PLASTICS

Is this a correct top for my '88 Anniversary manufactured 5/88 (which of course came with two tops)? If not, thoughts on points deduction?

The 6958 you have should be 0958 from what I see in the pic (look at the zero's in Alma Coat 2000). This is the Julian date code which is the 95 day of 1988 or 04/05/1988. Looks correct for you car.

Only the top that is installed on the car is judged, even though as an option the car came from the factory with two tops.

If you bring the other top, you will just have to find a place to put it out of the way of the interior team. No one will look at the second top.

Thanks. Looks like I should have had my good reading glasses on - not my shop pair. Looks like the text an item for the new TIM&JG when it's released.

I know it's on page 70 of the green book. I'm sure that when this gets the new look at will greatly expand just like the 61-62 TIM&JG did.

At this point I'm happy that this top is +99% correct for judging. Now if I can find a battery and headlights...

You should be able to find head lights if not NOS then used. Keep an eye out on eBay or one of the C4 forums the're out there. As for the battery I doubt highly you will find an original Freedom battery and if you did it most definitely will be dead. Get yourself a AC Delco 75 series side terminal battery. It will be a 50% hit on originality which will be 10 points. If it comes with a handle remember to remove it or you will loose points for that.

I have an AC Delco with the carrying handle removed in the car so I'm as good until I find an original. Still actively searching for the headlights. Might be able to get some Guide brand 2B1 that are similar - at least they'll be the correct brand - still trying for a few more days.
