    69 console vacuum control hose

I am restoring my first c-3. I ordered new vacuum hose for the console but am having trouble removing the existing hose from the hard rubber connectors that the hose fits into to connect to the vacuum switches. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I have never tried what you have. One option is to cut the vacuum hose a few inches from the hard rubber connector and using an appropriate size plastic tube from a stored kitchen pump type bottle. Insert the plastic tube in the vacuum hoses and see how it works for you.

Durwood, the interior hoses generally do not need replacing as they are inside out of the elements, and If I remember they are color coated, I would try and save if possible and reuse, the exterior hoses have the heat and elements to help them deteriorate. If you must replace try a pocket screw driver and ream the hose around the rubber connector to break away.

        Hello Durwood,
Are referring to the air and heater control hoses that attach to the wheels in the center console? These have a rubber fitting on each side the hoses are glued into. They don't pull out. You have a couple of options

        1) cut them of at the attachment point, use a drill to ream out the hole, and glue the new ones in..Willcox has a video on this
        2) cut them near the fitting, and use the plastic tube to splice them as mentioned by Jim
        3) attach the tube directly to the metal stub on the control wheel. this is the way GM recommended repairing it in the service manual

Thanks to all for the help. I have elected to splice the new hose to the existing connectors via the plastic nipples to retain the original look as much as possible. I did not realize they were actually glued to the connectors.
