We had a great New Mexico Chapter team building exercise today helping a member who is having his Dad's '61 FI fully restored after several decades sitting under a tree in their yard. It was in rough shape, but today it is in gorgeous shape and ready to join the living, breathing fuelies and be ready for judging soon. I can say that none of us would be hired by UAW to do this kind of thing in St. Louis, we are slow as Christmas. Congrats Mr. Gray!

Re: '61 Fuelie Body Drop
Thanks for posting Mike. It was a fun experience however two of the photos are upside down suggesting we lowered the chassis onto the body!Keith MacRae

Re: '61 Fuelie Body Drop
Michael, Your friends 61 is looking gorgeous. Question for him if you don't mind. I really nice his fuel line that goes from the engine fuel pump up to the fuel filter. It has a lot of clearance unlike most repros that are hugging the valve cover. Please ask him where he bought it. Thanks, John- Top

Re: '61 Fuelie Body Drop
Hello John, This is Rick and I am the one restoring the 61 Fuelie pictured in this post. I am also the one who is going to install the NOS unit that Mike got for his tanker... Believe it or not that fuel line came from Zip Products. I had to do some bending and fitting but I was able to make it work; you can actually get the temp sending unit wire between the valve cover and fuel line without a snag. I have built a few street rods and have built f fuel and brake lines in my day. There was enough material to make the one from ZIP work. I was able to do my fitting on an engine stand which made the job easier. Not a good fit out of the wrapper (like most reproduction parts they are almost correct) but was able to make it work... Hope this helps. Best regards, RickLast edited by Richard J.; April 30, 2016, 08:54 PM.Rick Jones
