    1,500 mile '65

Yesterday someone mentioned what sounds like a neat Bowtie-quality '65. All they said was:

"1500 mile green saddle 65 FI conv". And located in Indiana.

Anyone have any more info about that car? Current owner?

    Thanks,

    Gary

] That car was body off in the 70s when Richard Buxbaum / Classic Motors owned it. Michael Hanson can tell you the complete story.

You mean the one that's had the body off and chassis restored?

      That one's well known.

        Patrick,

I don't know anything more about the car. Michael Hanson told me about it last night. if it's had a body-off restoration then it almost certainly does not have the originality value I was hoping for in terms of getting photos of some original items.

You and the good doctor are surely mistaken. In case you have not heard, you can't put anything on the interweb that isn't true.

Do I also recall something about going through a flood?

I recall seeing a 65 exactly like this one back in 72 or 73. Except the one I saw had gold painted inter-fenders. You could not think it was the same 65 could you????

No, the one I was thinking of was a repeated car displayed in the Special Collection and something in the dark corridors of the memory passages gives an inkling that it was sold and then went through a flood. I thought it was well known at the time, but if no one else remembers it, mark it down to "old".....

For those who keep their old magazines, it was featured in a multiple page article in the March 1978 issue of Vette Vues, and appears on the cover. Jim Krughoff owned it at the time.

Where has Michael Hanson been anyway? I've missed his posts.

If it's VIN xx12030, that was owned for years by Ed Foss here in Ft wayne.
                      That's probably the IN connection.
Yes, it's the one in Patrick's link.
I had not heard that it wasn't potential Bowtie quality though.
How did it get 3 stars after a body-off?

I think he finally gave up trying to correct the 63-64 JG and dealing with carlton.........he didn't renew his membership.

I spoke to Michael about the car years ago. The body was lifted and the chassis was restored. The exterior and interior remain mint original. I cannot recall if the motor compartment was restored but he did say the injection unit was rebuilt. Neat car.

So this car #12030 is a big fat lie?
