Re: 1956 Service Bulletin
Ed, The info in the bulletin is shown in the TOPS Booklet titled Corvette Engine Tune-up for 56& 57. They were reprinted by Vette Vues magazine years ago, and may be available thru NCRS. It gives the changes to the low speed jets.(294S to a 302S) and metering rods to a # 1356. Also to add the curb idle screw, spring, and washer to the rear carb only. The valve seal problem was well known, and could be taken care of by any competent mechanic. I recommend a 40-45,000 volt coil along with a plug no colder than a 45S for normal driving. If you can find 46's, use em. The coil will have to be the low ohm version for your dual points. NAPA has them. I used to recommend the Pertronics brand, but had problems with premature failure. Change the vacuum piston spring when using the Duntov cam (Lighter same as the 270 carbs use) to control the metering rods and idle circuit. Otherwise they will run rich, and foul the plugs. Call me if you have more questions.Bob K- Top
