      Bill,

Your are welcome .I thought you already figured it all out , except for the rivet placement . Here are a few more I took if they will help . More can be had if needed .

Should that riveted-on piece be natural? Or body color? I know the one in the Corvette Central photo is body color, but is that correct?

          Gary...

.....good point --- I guess it could go either way --- i.e. riveted on "before" the paint shop visit ----- then it gets painted ---- or maybe after in which case it is natural in color ---

Again.... the AIM has been no help at all -----

It also brings up the question of an A.O. Smith car --- seeing as there were no adjustments made for side pipe cars one "might" assume that for those cars they were added at Ionia ---- but who knows----

          Regards

            Bill,

I left mine natural when I replaced them 4 or 5 years ago. I assume I did that because I could find no trace of body color on the original ones. But I'd like to hear if others see any body color on theirs.

              Hey Gary----

I intend to do the same --- leave them natural ---

Maybe someone with a Bowtie car can fill us in the correct configuration -- painted v.s natural---

              Regards
              Bill

                Bill,

Also, with some masking of surrounding of the area it will be easy to paint them body color using a rattle can in the future if that proves to be correct.

                  Gary:

That is exactly what I am thinking on this one --- just semigloss white (maybe even flat) and should be good to go ---

                    Bill,

I purchased a rattle can with rally red lacquer and was given the important tip by someone on the DB to ask the company to make the sheen flat. I've used it when restoring items that are meant to have body overspray and I've very happy with how things look after using the flat lacquer spray.
