      Re: Carb question

Lots of previous threads on this subject. Some shops recommended; some not. I'd check them and email or talk to members who have used various ones to check their experiences. Eric Jackson at Vintage Musclecar Parts does a good job and is good to work with.

Jerry is good but he uses the wrong screws for the butterflies. I agree with Mike send to Phil

Are the "wrong screws" used because they're better than originals??. Are butterfly screws judged?

yes, they are judged. Philips or slotted are acceptable but torx are not and that's what he uses. they aren't any better just different heads. many judges differ on color and size of the head but the only way to determine if they are original is to see the underside and you cant see that without taking the carb off to view the peen. original peens are very distinctive. Jerry does a good job but you will most likely loose a point for originality for the screws

I have two 3370 dated carbs that Jerry did with the correct screws (one as a back-up and one on the car) the one on the car had zero deductions at the regional level.---- I am sure if you discuss it with him you can get the correct fasteners ---

I would also add that a lot of restoration services will perform at two different levels.... driver quality and "correct" quality ... NCRS, Bloomington etc etc.....it always helps to clearly state the quality of the expected restoration.

                  Just my two cents.....

                  Regards
                  Bill
