.100 Inch is about what is ground off. You can always grind the cable tip to fit. Sounds like the vendor is innocent.

Every rubber boot I bought, Shifting (4 speed), clutch arm, clutch rod, emergency brake cable boots, and many other ALL rotted and cracked before the car ever left the shop or was started, cracked and could be crumpled by hand. Of coarse all that according to a well known vendor in New York said that that was my problem and that they get their products from a number of vendors.

It's up to them to ensure that the furnished specs are complete and accurate in every possible detail. This is frequently not done. Not even the most reputable company (manufacturer) can read other people's minds.

This scenario is not unique to car parts or China I can assure you, from personal experience.

I've seen the manufacturing equivalent of 'You hold the hammer and I'll hold the nail. When I nod my head, you hit it.'

I have always said that having parts manufactured in Asia is similar to finding a place to eat dinner. You can have a cheap hamburger or a gourmet meal, and everything in between. They offer it all, it is incumbent on the company to choose the right "restaurant" to manufacture their goods. That is where the problem often lies.

If your definition of acceptable includes modifying a part that was advertised as "correct" then yes you are correct.

So you can tell without buying/seeing the item whether or not it is a good item??
