1963 SWC Cooling System

Good day, could I trouble someone to provide some specifics on the cooling system for a 63 SWC. In particular I am looking for additional information on how to properly check coolant levels and to which coolant should be used to top up the system or fill when drained. I have the original Harrison expansion tank setup so I'm not 100% sure on what the coolant level should be at within that tank. If the car is cold should I be seeing any coolant within that tank?

The remote expansion tank should be approximately half full when cold. This should be in the owner's and service manuals.

Yes, 1/2 way in the surge tank on a cool motor....if you overfill it; it'll 'puke down' to its ambient level anyway.
Make sure you have the proper pressure radiator cap....
