1988 Black Seat Back scratches - fix or leave as is

The seat backs on my '88 Anniversary have some scratches. Since it's going to get judged should I just leave well enough alone and take the points deductions or is there is reasonably "fool-proof" way to fix them to look original?

Yes, you should leave them alone, and no, there is no easy way to fix them. 1 point on condition? Hardly worth it if you ask me.

      Patrick and John------

I agree. Anything that's done is probably going to be quite detectable and, most likely, no better off than it is now.

I find that rubbing Vaseline and then wiping it off with a microfiber rag does a good job concealing the scratches.

Now that's an interesting "technique". I'll give it a try on the most inconspicuous scratch and then wait for awhile to see if there are longer term problems.

Worked for me. It won't harm the plastic because they both contain petroleum. I got this techniques from a radio restorer. He used the Vaseline on the plastic knobs.
