Known Original 1965 SBC Corvette Fan Without C60

The TIM&JG simply says that it must be 17 1/8" diameter with flat head rivets. What are the other identifiers not enumerated in the Manual that point to an original fan blade?

My original 1966 Corvette (made Feb. 24, 1966) fan:

    Measures 17 1/8" in diameter
    5 blades
Stamped "H" on the front and "W" on the back side
    3" bolt circle
    2 3/8" dia. hub hole
5 Flat head rivets per blade
The pitch measures about 1 5/8"
Blade length is 5.68" according to my research notes

The fan was attached to a Schwitzer fan clutch stamped "SC 1-22-66".

Joe, do you have the latest 6th edition JG?

        Dave,

My old and slightly bent blade is same as yours.

TIM&JG does not mention the "W" or "H".

Reproductions sold by Corvette vendors have "H", "W", and "FRONT" stampings.

New GM blade that I ordered from GMPD only has the "W".

        Go figure!

The new 6th ed. 1965 JG has been published and available. I'll bet you'll find your answers there. Good luck. Tony

            Joe,

I do not have any use for the judging manuals. I rely on my 36 years of researching 1963-1967 Corvettes.

The letter "H" stamping represents the manufacturer, Hayes-Albion. I've never found out the meaning of the stamped letter "W".
Over the last 36 years lI have had other 5-blade and 7-blade Hayes-Albion GM fans that do have the word "FRONT" stamped on them but as far as I know the factory installed 65-67 Corvette 5-blade fans (17 1/8" dia.) did not the the word "FRONT" stamped on them.

I have a NOS 3770529 fan stored in my garage attic that I bought back in the early 1980's. When I get a chance I will check out the stampings on it.

            Dave
