    Holley accel pump thread repair

I have a 4160 List 3367 carb for 66 L79. The threads for the accel pump housing are stripped. I bought a replacement bowl from Holley but it is not the correct bowl. Been searching internet for couple hours and cannot seem to locate either NOS or used primary bowl. I found a Heli Coil repair kit but it is pricey. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement bowl? Also, if anyone has had experience repairing the threads with the Heli Coil kit would like to know how it went. Also, is the thread size 8-32?

    Thanks

The Heli-Coil is the way to go. Yes, the kit for this application is expensive. So, what you do is to have someone that already has the kit and the experience of doing this repair perform the Heli-Coil installation. Most of the major Holley rebuilders can do this.

I've heli-coiled mine just tighten all the other ones first then dont overtight the heli-coiled screw they are strong but these are so small and the bowl material so soft that they can pull out easy i dont remember the size just take the screw to home depot and match it up to there guide if you have no otherway to tell the size
          Good luck

            Leif,
I saw that one too when searching and thought that's it! But, it's for a marine application and does not have provisions for adjustable float and also no bowl vent. I think the Heli Coil route is the way to go. Will take Joe's advice (thanks Joe!) and have a repair shop do so I don't screw it up more!

              Mike,
The kit is around $60! Joe has the right idea, have someone who has the tooling already (and knowledge) do the repair.
              Thanks!

One other thing is to make sure the bowl and pump cover are flat.
