    Joe Lucia... 3896958 water outlet???

Joe do you have any info as to what a 3896958 water outlet was used on? I just acquired one and have never seen one before. It looks like the 660 outlet but the carburetor spring tab is raised higher and is gusseted on the bottom.

      Pete and Sal-------

Yes, that's the correct application. However, the 3896958 only "lived" for a relatively short period of time----from late 1966 until July, 1968. At that time it was replaced by the GM #3877660. The 3877660 preceded the 3896958 and also succeeded it.

I did some more checking. Actually, the 3896958 was also cataloged for 66-67 Corvette with 327 except L-79, 1966-68 full size passenger cars, and 1966-68 series 10-30 trucks. I expect it was also cataloged for 1966-68 Chevelles, Chevy II, and Camaros.

However, the 3896958 could have been only a SERVICE part for most of the applications. I have no information that it was ever used in PRODUCTION for Corvettes, passenger cars, Chevelles, Chevy II or Camaros. But, I would not rule out the possibility it might have been used alternately (with the 3877660).
