My tachometer on my '58 needs to be repaired. Removing it is more involved than i Thought. I have unbolted the speedometer and moved it back as far as it will go, but this still will not allow the tachometer to back up & drop down. I have not unbolted the tach gauge bezel & it sure looks like it would be hard to do because of space restraints. What is the correct procedure to get this tach gauge out ? Thankyou Gary H

Re: 1958 tachometer
Gary, Hate to be a bearer of not so great news, but the entire cluster has to come out to remove the tachometer.
Once the cluster is out, then the speedometer can be extracted, then the tach.
Mark the wires locations with tape and remove from the gauges, remove the oil pipe, Headlight harness(I remove the switch too), wiper switch, etc, then the lower cluster cover below the column, then there are several screws(7/16" head 1/4-20's) that hold the cluster to the upper cowl.
Take special note and orientation of the wires on the ammeter as the AIM diagram is wrong.
Protect the top area of the steering column when lifting the cluster out. BTW, I always remove the steering wheel too for easier access.

Re: 1958 tachometer
Rich, Thankyou for your response.I was afraid it would involve removing the cluster. I was just hoping for a easier method. At least now i'll know i'm not headed in the wrong direction by removing the cluster. Thanks again. Gary- Top
