    Barrett-Jackson and NCRS

Just watching a Barett- Jackson auction and they claim NCRS has judges on location. Any truth to that ? The reason I ask is one C2 had the Barett-Jackson NCRS sticker on it and the license plate frame on the front of the car was on the driver side of the front bumper and the plate said something with the word gold on it. Never saw a C2 with the license plate frame on the drivers side of the bumper????

NCRS usually has a presence ar BJ in the form of an information booth (at most but not all BJ auctions). I think they require you to pay the document services fee to claim the car has received a NCRS award. I doubt there are NCRS judges in any official capacity there but would guess there are always people who have judged at a NCRS event in attendance. Don H.

Late '66 L36 with AC and Powerglide and 67's with AC and Powerglide received a front license frame mounted on the drivers side.

Former NCRS Judging Chairman Roy Sinor now works for Barrett Jackson. And as noted above, NCRS has had info booths at BJ Auction events in Scottsdale over the years.

Also NCRS stickers were applied to all Corvettes that had been judged in the past. Owner paid nothing for the service.

This is a good deal for NCRS and BJ. In the past some Corvette sellers at BJ we claiming NCRS Judging Awards that the car never received. As a result the cars were getting higher bids than deserved. There were some very unhappy buyers. BJ wants to keep a high reputation in their business. Now a seller cannot advertise an NCRS award unless NCRS agrees. Good advertising for NCRS, good buiness for BJ.

This is a good practice, and Mecum and other auction houses should do it, too many fakey doos out there claiming awards, you see them at every auction. But, the cars at BJ may or may not be as judged when they won the awards, as we all know. I have seen numerous ones with original parts replaced by reproductions (and much worse), so take that NCRS award certification with a huge dose of salt and have it thoroughly inspected on site by experts or you will be sorry.

From what I understand the NCRS people at BJ will for a fee provide info regarding what if any NCRS awards the car has or has not won that the seller claims. As far as I know anything like location of a plate, etc is not what the NCRS people are doing there - sounds like a great deal as far as I am concerned.

                        Re: Barett-Jackson and NCRS

applying a new sticker to me is like reaffirming the car still has the same components as when judged. unless the person applying the sticker does a inspection to see that major items on the car are still there, ncrs should not get involved. I have seen a duntov car get sold at auction with a replacement motor from a car several years newer. other major items were also missing. stating a car went through judging in the past allows for sellers to present a car as it once was and not what it might presently be.

There are several Duntov cars with replacement blocks.

The disclaimer on the back of any NCRS award takes effect immediately after the Award and applies to all subsequent buyers.
