My understanding is that the fresh Air inlet screen on a 58-62 (59 in my case) was not screwed onto the passenger-side radiator support extension bracket up behind the grill during blackout. Therefor, the screen and its mounting screws should not be flat black. Can someone confirm if the screen was raw steel or painted? The vendors show it semi-gloss black. is that correct? The underside of mine looks like it may have been coated in low grade black paint, but its pretty rusty so I can't really tell.

according to the JM - it was installed after black out - so the screws should not be painted but the part itself looks to be a dipped part1954 Corvette #3803 - Top Flight 2012, Bloomington Gold 2012,
