Had to repair the vent window mechanism and was hoping to install new vapor barrier before installing the door panels. Just wondering what has been used to adhere the barrier to the door. Afraid to use something that will be permanent. Recommendations?

Re: 63 SWC Door Vapor Barrier
Sebastian,
63 were a little different as usual in the fact that the barrier was thin brown paper! Would recommend using a later material which changed to clear plastic sometime later. Sure would do a better job of being a vapor barrier anyway.
You can still purchase the 3M Strip Calk under part no 08578 black!

PS. You could use Horse Feathers if you wish cause the NCRS 63 expert judges cannot see it anyway!- Top

Re: 63 SWC Door Vapor Barrier
I have the '64 AIM - just did my doors, not sure if the 63 AIM is the same but the 64 AIM indicates small pieces of tape placed in the corners and a few points along the long section of paper. It does not state the length of tape, but it does list the type or part number of the tape. Not sure it makes much difference. I used rubber electrical tape - the adhesive is not that strong and besides, it is impossible to see when you have the door panel in place.
Dum Dum is placed on the back side (on 3 edges) of the two removable access panels that screw to the door.Ed- Top

Re: 63 SWC Door Vapor Barrier
The paper with the dum-dum is what was on my '63 coupe doors....however use that dum-dum SPARINGLY (or maybe not at all). When you have to go back into the door shells to work on something that black gunk has a way of attaching to your elbows, forearms, belly and forehead as you are looking and fishing around in the door to fix something. Or maybe I'm just sloppier than most...- Top

Re: 63 SWC Door Vapor Barrier
Sebastian, the product you are looking for is "3M Automotive Strip Calk" - google that term and you will find a lot of sources, black is the most common color - I suggest that you wear rubber disposable gloves when working with it - you will lose (tear) a few sets of gloves (if you use the thin type) but better than trying to wash this stuff from your skin.
