    1969 427/400

Did all the Big Blocks have an expansion tank? I ask as a car I am looking at does not.

Also does this look like an original trim tag?

If you're only asking about 1969, then ALL big blocks were originally equipped with a coolant supply tank. No exceptions. All except C-60 equipped were aluminum tanks. C-60 used a cylindrical brass tank.

The trim tag looks original to me.

If the car you are looking at is the one on eBay from Ideal Classic cars then just check it out very carefully. It's missing lots of things under the hood. Other than a missing expansion tank that also means the radiator has been changed as it has a cap on it. It's also missing all the smog parts. Those are expensive items if its important to you. The ad says "matching numbers" but doesn't show you anything. Also the radiator shroud bracket is incorrect along with most of the other items I can see including the alternator, master cylinder, (actuator relay and windshield wiper actuator are repros). It has a tank sticker that looks original so that's very good but very few options.

Not bad for around 35k but much more and I think you are overpaying.

If it is this car, the price listed on the dealer's website is over $69k. What makes me a little nervous is the shiny new paint over poor fitting panels. The front surround, hood, headlight doors, grilles, and wiper door all fit badly. So it may benefit an interested buyer to look further into those issues.

Other small stuff in addition to what Edward mentioned: the alternator is clocked incorrectly, no PCV system, and why does the fuel line touch the radiator hose?

I had concerns regarding the radiator, expansion tank and possible repair to the front because of how the hood fit.

Been looking for a tri-power/convertible car at a reasonable price for awhile and it looks as I will still be looking.

Thanks for all the timely response.
