    1967 BB hood

I wrecked my new '67 Corvette in the fall of that year with 4860 miles showing. The Chevy garage took two months to repair the front and back damage. At age 22 I wanted the BB hood on my SB Corvette but the body shop manager balked and made me pay the difference, which I forget today. Does anyone know what the cost of each hood would have been in January 1968? The hood is still on the car to this day.

    Thanks

At that time the price of the 1967 small block hood and the 1967 big block hood was exactly the same----$96.95 GM list price. So, if the body shop manager told you there was a difference, he was just trying to get an extra buck out of you. Of course, if the front grille was to be installed on the big block hood that would have been extra-----$6.25 GM list to be exact.

Thanks Joe. The grill was definitely smashed up along with the headlight motor, lower valence and bumpers. Also, the guard rail took the right back corner off including punching a hole in the gas tank. I actually reached in and pulled off the tank sticker. Looked at it, wasn't sure what it was, balled it up and tossed it into a Wolf's Heads trash can 49 plus years ago!

Just to be clear, I was not referring to the radiator grille. I was referring to the piece at the front of the big block hood "scoop". GM refers to this piece as a grille; some might call it a bezel or a molding.
