63 SWC Interior Rear Quarter Trim Panels

Everyone I am at a loss for something that seems so simple. Working on my 63 this past winter and I wanted to install rear trim panels as one was missing and the other was in really bad shape (car was just purchased last fall). So far I've ordered one set from Corvette Central which were returned as there was no possible way they were going to fit (my opinion but I could've been wrong). When I called them they said they most likely sent me 64 and not 63 although I did not think there was a difference. Spoke with Al Knoch after sending them a picture of what was left of the one in the car his seemed a little closer but again no luck as they just arrived but unfortunately they don't look like a matching set. I've attached photos of both sets any input would be great. Also any 63's out there if you could send me some shots of that particular area that would be very much appreciated as again I'm stumped for something that would seem so easy. In the pictures that I've attached the first shows what was left of the one installed compared to what I received from corvette central. The second photo shows what was just received from Al Knoch which unfortunately look different from each other.

    Thx Again

First off I hate repo's but I usually loosen the vinyl from the cardboard and trim it to fit using the old one as a pattern. Not hard to do and you will find most vendors do not want to mess with such a small ticket item. Best to you. Paul
    It's a good life!

      63 SWC Interior Details

I posted a question regarding issues I was having with interior quarter trim panels and the installation. Could I trouble some 63 SWC owners to take some photos of that particular area in their cars and forward or post directly. I have had two different versions of panels sent to me by both Al Knoch and Corvette Central (photos attached in my previous post) and I am at a complete loss as to the installation. Have some owners just made custom panels for this area? Leaning towards that if I cant't resolve.

      Thx in advance.

        Sebastian,
this is an original 63 quarter trim panel. None of the panels in your pics look right.
Write me a PM if you need more info.

          These might explain it better.

Yeah those panels look strange - here are my 63 coupe originals. When you install the right ones some day, don't forget that metal trim clip at the top that ties the vinyl panel to the dome light halo surround. The clips are available in repro from LICS.

                Frank,
I'm pretty sure the panels in your pics are repo.

They took no hit on judging except for the missing clip....for what its worth...
At any rate - I think they'll help the OP to know what he's looking for...

OK, I've been writing the OP and I didn't want him confused.
Originals had the vinyl just glued on (no staples), and the notch halfway down is there for a reason.

As far as judging, after the double whack on the AC maybe they were cutting you slack.
