One of the reasons they all broke out around the hinge mounts is the metal plate that the hinge bolts to is not wide enough to also cover the hood pop up This plate is under the inner structure. The fiberglass is also way to thin to support the hood. The hood is already going to stick up so you can't build that area up with fiberglass.I make most of the repairs on the underside of the hood inner structure. So i cut the inner structure on the sides of the hood about 8 inches from the front .If the inner structure is broke were the hood prop is i would cut it farther back on that side so you could repair and reinforce that area also. Then take a VERY sharp putty knife and remove the front part of the entire hood inner structure.Drive the putty knife between the hood skin and inner structure.Drill out the rivet and remove the threaded plate that is on the underside .Then i make a larger plate with the threaded holes for the hinge that will cover the hood pop up . I guess you could just weld a extension on the original plate.I then make all the repairs to fiberglass on the underside were you can now build it up reinforcing the area.Yes you will have to use longer bolts . Then i bond the inner structure back on the hood and finish the repairs on the side the you can see.You know the hood is going to stick up in the front . The way you bring the hood down is add shims the rear mount bolt .I will do ANYTHING to not have to use shims. I build the the area up were the rear hinge bolt is and sand it down as i fit the hood. Last thing i drill hole for rivet and just epoxy it in .Yes it a LOT of work. Make sure you take your hinges apart were you can and the hood pops ups and lubricate them . You need to lubricate the pivots on the hinges that are penned also .They HAVE to work freely.Other wise you hood will not fit the same every time you shut it .
