I have had a couple of 1957's and the rear trunk/ floor pans were painted black up to were the vertical piece at the rear of the tank meets the actual floor boards.I do not know if someone panted them or they came that way . But both had the gray sealer under the black. If i paint this area all black how much of a point deduction would there be .I would leave the area under the tank and seat bare .

Re: paint on 1957 floor pans
Dan,
My November '56 built car had blackout on the vertical bulkhead behind the seats to the rear and wheel well to wheel well. Floor pan under the pass compartment was unpainted. I'm convinced it was factory and took pictures as I stripped it. Showed those pics to a couple of judges at Kissimmee as well as Ken Kayser. All were accepting of the possible originality and Ken suggested using the pics when I get the car judged if there is any question raised. I haven't had the car judged yet although I've seen several judged cars painted that way but have no idea how they scored on that item.- Top

Re: paint on 1957 floor pans
Mine had the gray sealer under the Black paint . l don't think someone used the same gray sealer and the painted the complete floor up to and including the vertical bulkhead. Roy Ester says all the cars he has done has been painted wheel house to wheel house up to were the vertical bulkhead meets the floor and the 58's on up were painted like the JM says- Top
