Jerry, I believe there was someone who repaired the 63 roller fuel doors, but no longer it does it. this was asked before here on the TDB a few months back. I have heard that the repairs on the doors did not work that well.as the tangs that were broken were soldiered, Even if someone did this service I would not recommend as a everyday use, maybe only for judging reasons.

      Re: 1963E gas door

Back some time I bought a S/W and the first show I brought it to was held in Mystic Seaport Conn. on my way back from lunch I saw someone looking at my gas roller door. When I asked If i could help him he gave me a business card which stated he repaired 63 doors he asked if I bought the car from so and so in New Jersey which I had - he said he had sold him that door and how did I lose two tangs. Told him it was that way when I bought it, he asked that I mail it back to him during the winter and he would repair it at NC and send it back -- he did not want any of his work to look like that. I did send it and it was repaired and sent back. I had the car for 4 years after that and had no problems. The bad part is I can not remember his full name - his first name was Jerry and he lived in Conn. Hope this info does you some good.

Jerry Cribbs used to rebuild the Gas Doors, I am not sure if he does any longer:

My early gas roller door has served me for over 75k miles but it is not a repaired one. I am somewhat careful with it but I don't baby it. I sure hope it doesn't fail me. Now you have me scared. Paul

I have read that the Trim parts reproduction roller fuel door is nice but I have not seen one close up.

I am searching here to find: What's the difference between a Late '63 door, and a 1964 fuel door? Other than the insert with the changed design, I mean?

Same "new style" latch? Dimple in the middle of the bottom? Numbers on the hinge pivot?

                  Thanks

I know the early 63 doors have a p/n on them and the reproduction does not. jerry still does the early doors.
