    Guys
this thread was re-opened because it was a tribute thread to the Mortimers and their long membership and service to the club. Posts in that spirit will be allowed to remain. Any posts that are snipes at the club or the BoD in regards to the Mortimers will be removed by the moderators. The Technical Discussion Board is provided to all the members of the club for the purpose of preservation, restoration and enjoyment of corvettes and not as a general discussion forum. Thank you all for your understanding.

I also want to thank Gary and Eric for all of their hard work and commitment to NCRS and all that it stands for. I am very sorry to see them go. NCRS will never be the same without them. I am lucky because I only live a short distance and can see them at local events. Best Wishes to them and their families. Dale

                Gary Mortimer
Researcher, Author, Restorer, Founder & Facilitator

                “First President, NCRS #1”
Gary Mortimer is still at it. The restorer and vendor from Ohio is still involved with Corvettes. Like many Corvette people, Mortimer has owned, restored and judged them. Far fewer people have also written about them, made parts for them, or advised people about them. However, only a micro-fraction of a percent have also participated in the founding of the National Corvette Museum, let alone be inducted into the National Corvette Museum Hall of Fame. Of course, his most significant contributions were not only being one of the original seven founders of the NCRS but also its first president holding NCRS membership #001. Although there were seven founders and hundreds of others who have moved NCRS forward to the success it enjoys today, it was the quiet, stable, and likeable man from Ohio who has been THE name connectedwith NCRS.“There could have been others who could have come in, but no one else would have had the commitment that Gary had for the club. If it wasn’t for Gary, the club would not be what it is today.”
                - Jay Kellogg, NCRS Co-Founder
Coincidentally, another 2011 inductee had a significant influence on Mortimer’s success. According to Mortimer, he was encouraged that Joe Pike thought enough of the new club to attend and cover the very first NCRS meet for Corvette News. Gary’s wife Sharon and son Eric have been integral parts of contributing to the entire Corvette community and helping preserve the heritage of the Corvette.Gary Mortimer is more than a founder. He’s a leader.

Re: Gary Mortimer / Eric Mortimer

An anecdote I can share about the Mortimers' dates back to about 1995. I had ordered a 1:12 scale '58 model from the NCRS store and when it arrived I noticed the left front tire/wheel was pushed far up into the wheel well. Upon further examination the tire/wheel was on top of what looked to be a TV remote. WTH? I unscrewed the model from its' base, removed the remote, and the suspension returned back to the intended position. I called the Mortimers at the NCRS office explaining what I had found and Eric yelled "Mom, some guy just found the remote!" Apparently they had taken the model off the base to inspect it and their TV remote ended up on the base and the model was re-installed with the remote still there. I sent it back to them and shared a laugh with them at Bloomington Gold the following year at the NCRS booth. Always enjoyed talking to them at shows or when placing orders for NCRS items.

Tow class act gentlemen with a fantastic wife/Mother. Always smiling, cordial and friendly. Wish them the best and DEFINITELY want to see them in the future. They did tireless work (hauling trailer, copies, manuals, etc) and I am sorry to see them go. Regards. ARA
