JG is confusing, is says cad or zinc attachment hardware with black phosphate camber adjusting bolt with cad or zinc nut and washer to the rear. My question in the front bolt head and large adjustment washer are both black or only the bolt head? There is a set on ebay #201524704482 are these correct for judging? Thanks in advance.

I have NOS examples of the GM #3820253 cam/bolt assembly and the GM #3790331 cam. The ones I have are very old NOS and I believe them to be the same as used in PRODUCTION. They are also as I recall the original parts on my 1969 (which used mostly the same parts of this system as was used for 1963)
3820253 cam/bolt assembly----bolt is black phosphate; cam is natural steel.
3790331 cam------zinc plated
131101 lockwasher (used early 1963)----zinc or cadmium plated
103329 lockwasher (used late 1963 and later)-----"plain" finish (unplated)
9417614 nut (used early 1963)-----zinc or cadmium plated
3792930 nut (used late 1963 and later)-----??????In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1963 rear strut rod adjusting bolt
And as for the large cam bolt washer shown all the originals I've seen, 63/64 have the hole, not the degree markings.Attached Files- Top

Re: 1963 rear strut rod adjusting bolt
For 1966+, if not earlier, the cam/bolt assembly had the degree markings on the cam. The separate cam had no markings.
I don't understand why 63-64 did not have the markings. The part number did not change from 63/64 to later, so I suppose the degree marks were added via a revision to the drawing for the part.Last edited by Joe L.; March 17, 2016, 07:08 PM. Very interesting, have a very poor picture of a 66 427 (un restored) with the degree marks, Well another area to look into.
As for the finishes I have a few pictures showing what's left of those finishes.- Top
