Although I have a nice '71 Corvette, my problem is not Corvette-related! I also have a '69 Olds 4-4-2 with factory cruise control and it doesn't work. After trouble-shooting all the possibilities, we are down to the transducer. It seemingly doesn't work and I'm asking if anyone here rebuilds these old transducers or knows someone that does it.
Everything on the vacuum side seems to be working properly. I have an on/off switch on the dash for the cruise control and when it is turned on, a little light appears just above the switch. When the 2-wire lead from the switch to the transducer is disconnected from the transducer, the wire shows 12 volts. But when the lead is plugged into the transducer, all the voltage disappears and I don't know where it goes! I'm pretty good at diagnosing things I can see, but I can't see electricity.
If anyone has any ideas of what might be wrong or can lead me to a transducer rebuilder, I sure will appreciate it!
