63 wheel cover spinner retainer ring

I need some one to please confirm what I think is correct. I finally received my shiny restored 63 wheel covers. Unfortunately I had to buy after market spinners and vanes but I did come up with 4 original spinner retainer rings that I have restored. As shown below the rings have a lip around the opening for the hub. My thought is the lip should point towards the wheel cover for ease of lining up the wheel cover when sliding over the hub. However I have bot been able to confirm this. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

    Kerry,

The reinforcement ring goes on the inside of the hubcap and the lip points to the center of the car as you could not tighten the ring with the lip toward the hubcap.
I have about 20 63 hubcaps of various designs and can post a picture if you wish.

      Ray,

Thank you for your response. No need for pics as I simply wasn't certain which direction the lip pointed. You proved my assumption that the lip pointed outboard as incorrect so I am glad to know before I started on the assembly of the wheel covers. Thanks again.
