    67 Hose clamps

Which type of clamp is correct for the bypass hose on a 67 L79?
Which type of clamp is correct for the short hose connecting the expansion tank to the heater hose tee?
    Thank you,
    Randy

Can't see detail, but by general design...the left is small block and right is big block.

Does AC come into the equation?

Randy, I believe GM used both configuration in this applications. I don't know if the judging manual says anything about it.

I can add the originals have a #10 screw with slotted filister head with a washer face that is part of the head. Hex head screws are replacements.

I should have read the post a little more carefully...one should not do a reply at 12:15 a.m.!! My reply was for the bypass clamp. But seems the judging manual says for the 350 HP 67's that a tower clamp, or side screw clamp is acceptable. My reply was based on my zillion pictures I have of survivor cars. Interestingly those pictures show the bypass clamp on all the 67 350 hp cars are the open type shown on the left. And in those pictures, all the by-pass clamps for 427's are of the solid type on the right...except for one 435 which showed the tower clamp being used on the by-pass. Maybe someone out there can chime in saying their car supports the judging manual in that the open clamp was used on the 427's and the tower and solid clamp was used on a 350 hp car.

Personally for my 67 350hp restoration I am doing, I am using the clamp shown next with the A4 3/4. It just looks so authentic.

As for the expansion tank, I do have Bowtie pictures of 300 and 350 hp cars using both the open and solid side screw clamps.

Here are a few pictures of by-pass hoses on Bowtie cars for what they are worth.

I agree with Gene and Gary. Gary's tower clamp examples while they MAY have run out of the other clamps and used the tower clamps - they are not typical. Gary - when are you campaigning this car? - setting it up for Bowtie judging?

Dan....my 67 OM 350 HP project coupe is for flight judging using as many original parts as I can even though all are not perfect. I hope I live long enough to finish it given I took it apart in 1993. I do have the body painted (Tom Ames in 2014) and a rolling chassis with driveline 99% complete. With luck, I might have it done this summer. I have a zillion pictures of survivor/bowtie cars for reference and post them on the TDB when useful.
