C-2 tail light differences

I'm sure this is a somewhat ignorant question, but why do some C-2 cars have 2 red tail lights on each side and some will have a red lens and a white lens per side ? I searched the archives hoping to save myself the humiliation of not knowing, but couldn't find any threads on this subject.

63 thru 66 back-up lights where an option thus cars with white lenses have back-up lights.

The Vettes with the two red and two white (really they're clear) lenses are the Vettes with back up lights, it was an option. On 1967 they put the back up lights over the license plate.

Ah ha ! I'm a little smarter than I was 10 minutes ago. BTW Don, I can completely relate to your "light is Off at the end of the tunnel " statement.

I could be proven wrong, but I believe Backup lights were optional under RPO T86 for 63 and 64, and under RPO Z01 in 65. But they were standard in 66.
