    Blasting Cabinet Glass

I have a thin piece of plexiglass in it now. Hard to see what your blasting. Can you use tempered glass or another product. Thanks, Jeff

Yes but it will be etched the same as any other type of glass. My brother in law is a glazier and makes glass for a few people with the same problem. It's not avoidable.

Make sure to direct the blasting away from the glass. Sounds stupid to mention this but I had someone use my cabinet and was not following simple directions on it's use. Glass will stay viewable longer than any form of plastic. That is if the spray is directed away from the window.

I also use the readily-available plastic liners on the inside of my glass. It's easy to remove and replace, and cheaper than glass.

There are protective (peel & stick) sheets of clear that are available and designed to take most of the abuse and be replaced. Eastwood and others have them. Your glass will last a bit longer.

I use glass bead and it doesn't pit my glass.

X4. I use the Eastwood plastic liners. They have self-stick tape around the perimeter.

The media will eventually make that shadowy to but it's sacrificial so I replace it when it does.

I have a Skat Blast cabinet from TP Tool & Equipment and use their plastic liners. A liner only last for a few days if I am using the cabinet a lot. My cabinet is what I would call a mid-size (34" wide x 22" deep x 20 1/2" high) cabinet and I always blast away from the window, but still get a lot of etching of the plastic liner. A friend has the large cabinet (58" wide x 28" deep x 34 1/2" high). He has never used the plastic liner and his plexiglass window is nice and clear.

The size of the cabinet makes a lot of difference to whether you get a lot of etching of the Plexiglass or plastic liner.

Is this the preffered media? I am setting up a bench top cabinet now and was debating the type of media to use.

Thank you all. Went to a glass co. Bought 2 pieces of Safety glass. I'll order some liners today. Great help as always.
