Well, I agree about general trends, but, specific parts, I'd probably need more proof than just what was the part number's 'expected' place in the trend. Not worth arguing about, though, we'll just agree to disagree on this

Well, like I said, it's an "imprecise science". But, it's still quite useful. However, I have never and would never make a definitive statement regarding the exact date a part was released. In fact, I usually preface my remarks in this regard that a part number IMPLIES a certain period of release.

There is an exception I should have mentioned when I was referring to 1963 model part numbers. Within the part number range I mentioned are parts that were NEVER originally used on a 1963 Corvette or, for that matter, any other 1963 Chevrolet. This includes many (but not all) part numbers which fall in the approximate range of 3835xxx to 385xxxx. For some unknown reason, these part numbers were assigned to parts released prior to 1955, primarily, if not exclusively, for engine-related parts.
