    Do you think mice? Yep!

While I was disassembling the evaporator core on this '67 A/C car that I am restoring this is what I found. Believe it or not the fan moter still ran!

Gary - I just had to get into the system on my '96 Impala SS. Those critters just love to get in there especially down here in the Winter.
Hopefully, they didn't eat up any of the wiring. Pete

        another mice story:
about 10 years ago, i bought an unrestored 29 chevy convertible landau from an old farmer in west va. the 29 hadn't been run in 30+ years. i trailered it home and had it running that day. i proceeded out the road from our farm and about 1/2 mile up the road, i noticed a smell of burning something. another couple 100 feet and the smell turned to smoke. another 100 feet or so and the smoke turned to sparks entering the car. another few feet and the mohair upholstery between my legs started to ignite(yeah, right in the vicinity of my gonads).
i got the old cevy back home and found that the after marked "heater", a tin box surrounding the exhaust manifold with an opening at the front to allow incoming air to enter the box and a flex pipe from the tin boses back thru a hole in the firewall just above the steering col.
i hate those mixes to pieces. mike

Found a mouse nest in the shroud of a 7hp Briggs engine on a Bobcat snow blower that I was given.

              OMG. I can't top that.

Mice (I assume) packed nest material (insulation, shredded paper, other debris) inside the frame rails of my '70. Got a lot out with my flexible grabber tool but stuff still remains in there.

Yep, mice are bad. I had one strip the lining from my under hood insulation, drag it to my glove box, shred up my insurance card and registration, and then pack it all neatly into my hat that was in my glove box in my Toyota. Amazing what they can do to build a nest for their young 'uns.

But snakes are worse. Here is a picture a friend of mine sent me from when he went to look at a "barn find" low mile '65 Mustang………that was a deal killer for sure……….

That would have been a deal breaker for sure. At least you could see it. That would have been bad driving down the road and that thing come slithering out

Michael, your friend should have bought it. Looks like it was a real "Cobra" Mustang.
Back in 2003 I had bought a '64 GTO that came out of a barn. Nice car but needed a lot of cleaning. Found mice nests in the frame, and one huge one under the console. I just couldn't seem to get the smell out of the interior, though. Finally one day I figured it was coming from the back seat area. I pulled the seat (again) and then shined a light down the rear passenger side window. Bingo! Took the 1/4 trim panel off, but it was still very hard to get it all out of there with a vacuum and a rigged up hose. I hate mice.

Since this is a big-block, maybe rats inhabited the car rather than mice.

One winter we were feeding the dog in the garage and the mice decided to hoard some food away for themselves. It was packed under the center console and inside the rear storage box. Pieces of dog food also were ejected from the mufflers when the car was cranked in the spring.

After spending days pulling stuff out of the hvac ducts, I put those wrapped cubes of mice poison in my chevelle (stored in winter) and take them out in spring. I'm always a little sad when I find one nibbled. It's a terrible way to die.

Snakes keep the mice/rats from the destruction of the interior.
