    67 Dash Panel Lights

Question: the single gray wire panel lights on the 67 dash cluster, does anyone know what gauge wire that is? I'm toying with the idea of lengthening them to make reassembly easier.

Not a good idea! Besides messing up the W/H, you create lots of opportunities for bad connection and shorts unless you solder and use shrink tubing. Better idea is to get a length of 1/4 inch redi rod and cut four lengths of about 7-8 inches each and screw them into the dash mount holes. You can then slip the instrument cluster onto these rods and work at putting the wiring connections into the cluster without having to fight the cluster.Gray wires are gauge illumination wires and can go to any gauge they reach.

I used the rods to hold the dash out--just want to know the gauge of the wire, thanks. Anyone?

The wiring color and guage size may be in the AIM or on the wiring diagram in the 1967 service manual....

If you really want to do this, then get some 16 gauge gray wire. Solder the lamp ends on the wire. Un wrap the harness to where all of the lamp
wires intersect & splice in all of your new wires and rewrap the harness. This will make a neat solution to your problem. As others have mentioned,
there should be no reason to do this, but, it's your car..............
