Need help to verify correct original fuel pump for my 67 327/300

I need help verifying the correct original fuel pump for my 67 small block.

Page 125 of the 67 JG states original small block 67 fuel pump should have:
    Part No. AC 6440433
Upper Housing - Natural finish aluminum die casting with inlet & outlets on lower portion
Bottom canister - cadmium dichromate crimped to upper housing
Small AC stamped on side of upper housing
Last 5 digits of part number (40433) stamped on flange
    Date code stamped on flange

The example picture & text used does not agree with the statements above for a 67 fuel pump:
The AC part # (best I can make out) is 48422
The date code HF = August 66

Attached are photos of my fuel pump that I believe to be correct. I would appreciate help and clarification that what I have is correct.

    Thanks
    Ron Napoliello

    Ron,
Which picture are you referring to on page 125 of the current '67 JG? Picture M-9-1A is the bottom of the small block fuel pump. Picture M-9-1B are of the BB fuel pump. Your pictures of your pump appear to be the correct fuel pump for your application.

I would trouble giving you clarification that what you have is correct, Ron. Yours is not in line with the JG, and my experience with 67 small blocks would indicate to me that the JG is right on.

        Ron,

Look in the archives, there may be a picture from me of a original 40433 that I bought for my 67. Your pump configuration looks corrrect, I am not sure about the 8B that's before the number. The pump I have is dated late in 66 and the date code jibes with the J/G.

I can find no information that a fuel pump of AC 48422 ever existed.

The picture on the right side. It's referred to as the original fuel pump. The one on the left is a service replacement.

Re: Need help to verify correct original fuel pump for my 67 327/300

AC 48422 is the part number on the pictured displayed as Original small block fuel pump in the 1967 JG.

Look at the fuel pump picture on the right side. The heading is "Original". It has an inset with an arrow point to the flange that is intended to show the part number and date code. I enlarged it to try to read the code and number. The best I could make of it was 48422. That is not the correct. It should be Part No. 40433 for s small block 67. In the text overprinted on the "original" picture it states the date code as "HF" that translate to August 66.

I'm trying to validate my fuel pump but the picture displayed has an incorrect part number and a date code of August 66 not valid for my April 67 Vette.

                    Ron,
on page 125 of the 67 JG, I'm reading it that the picture on the left is the configuration is M-9-1A which is the bottom configuration of the small block pump. The picture on the right with the two pumps is picture M-9-1B, which differentiates between the configuration between the big block original and service replacement pumps. Back to the small block category, it indicates 6440433 is the correct pump, with the last 5 digits stamped on the pump flange. That's what I've found to be correct also.

Here is a picture of the pump on my 67, it is a original that was overhauled. This pump came from a friends car so I am familiar with it's history.

The date code on the pump is LF 40433 which equates to (L) = November, (F) = 1966, I think the (I) is not used in date stampings.

Thanks for the pictures Tim. The one I'm looking at has the correct part number 40433,small AC, the same input/output holes, and crimped bottom canister. The difference I see is in the data code. I think it was re-stamped incorrectly as 8D. For my Vette I need one within 6 months of April 67. That would be F,G,H,J or K for the month and F or G for the year.

Thanks again for the help and pics.

Thanks for the picture Mike. As I see it the Date code KF = Oct 1966 and I part #40433 is correct for a 67 small block. The picture Timothy sent had a date code of LF (November 1966) with the 40433 part number. Also correct for a small block 1967.

Thanks to all for helping we understand what should be on a correct original fuel pump for a small block 67.

I am going to let some people know the picture of the original small block fuel pump in the 67 JG does not match the JG description. The picture has a date code HF (August 1966). OK for 67's up to Feb 1967 (6 month rule) with a part number that is not 40433.
