64 Inner Door Paper Material -Original?

    Hi

Attached is a pic of my 64 coupe door with panel removed. Is the paper seal original for 64? I don't think the panel has ever been off. Also I need to replace the felt in the lower back channel as my window won't roll down anymore. The metal skeleton in the felt is all discombobulated and reaching out to stop free roll of the window. What are the steps to remove the window?
    Thanks
    Jace

Re: 64 Inner Door Paper Material -Original?

    Jace,
I recently had my panels off to do some work inside my '64 convertible doors. I am confident that my paper "seals" are originals as they have date stamps on the back side (facing out). The dates on both seals are the same and about a dozen days before my car's build date. They do not look like yours - for one your paper looks new, mine are "aged" brown if you know what I mean - and there are a few water stains here and there.

I will attach a few PDF docs that explain how to remove the window. My advice is that if you are going to go that far (removing the window) I recommend that you consider repairing or replacing all felt, rubber and other bushings that are behind the door panel. If you are going this far might as well to a complete job- the parts are not all that expensive. Also, I put a layer of 1/8th inch Dynamat inside the door (on the back side of the outer skin. It has no effect on sound as a convertible is pretty noisy anyway but it makes the door sound very solid when you close it. BTW - I am not the author or any of the articles that I am posting, I am not taking credit for them - they are all from open sources - and I can tell you they are very helpful.

I also have a word document that explains how to remove the door glass but I cannot load or attach it to this post. If you want it send me an e mail and I will send it back to you as an attachment. My e mail is edszeliga@comcast.net.
