    Help identifiing this dipstick?

    Can anyone help identify this dipstick? It has "ADD", "FULL" and "ENGINE OIL" debossed(is that the correct term?) at bottom, "M" debossed at top just below handle and a riveted chrome handle with a rubber cap. Is it original or repro?

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    Jon

      David,

      Unless there is a part number stamped on it that I did not see, I have no idea what the part number is. The dipstick came out of one of my '63s - where I know it was not correct!

      I was hoping someone could ID it from the pictures.

        I believe your dipstick is for a 1964 Corvette as it has the rubber stopper but I would need the "A" and "B" dimensions to verify.
        Some 1964 dipsticks had a metal "bell" for a stopper. Off hand I can not remember which one was issued on the assembly line and which one was sold over the counter.

        A = 19 3/16"
        B = 20"
        Plain handle = GM # 3846810 (exc. SHP)
        Chrome handle = GM # 3846811 (SHP & FI)

        Your dipstick appears to have the chrome handle. Years ago I once owned a NOS 3846810 dipstick with a rubber stopper as well as a used 3846810 dipstick with a metal "bell" stopper.

            Dave,

            Just measured and it is 19 3/16" from the bottom of the rubber to the full line and 20" from the bottom of the rubber to the add line. So with the chrome handle, it does appear to be a GM # 3846811 (for 1964 Corvettes with SHP & FI).

            Any idea of value? Someone want to swap for an original '63 300HP?

            Thanks for the help!

            Jon
