Does anyone know what the correct color script is for original '81 spark plug wires? Reproduction sets are made with either black or white script and none are date coded that I can find. Also any comments on performance of repro sets would be appreciated....they advertise 'correct Packard Delcore II wire using special Kevlar silicone wrapped constuction to prevent breaks and cracks in the conductor'. Thanks

Re: Packard Gray Spark Plug Wires for 1981
Correct color script is gray, 8 mm with black boots. As you probably figured out, wires are dated coded by quarter 3Q81, etc. Service replacement are black.
If unable to secure original appearance wires and must resort to service replacement, while you'll lose on originality, stick with an OEM style or Packard Electric and wording that reads something like "PACKARD T V R SUPPRESSION" or PACKARD DELCORE ELECTRONIC SUPPRESSION." By scoring 20% of your originality points, you'll get the condition points...that is if you'll be seeking to top flight the 81.Tom Russo

Re: Packard Gray Spark Plug Wires for 1981
Tom, Thanks, but my question has to do with the script (writing) on the wires...I realize that the actual original wires were gray in color but repro sets are available with either black script or white script on the gray wires and the NCRS Tech Manual does not state the script color.
