    '67 turn signal switch

"Other forum" has a thread and posts saying easiest way to replace turn signal switch and its wiring on a '67 is to remove pin connectors from curved plug and snake wires through tunnel in underside of column then reattach pin connectors. Any thoughts here. Is it possible to replace the piece of plastic on the switch that is usually broken and the problem without replacing the entire switch.? If so, would seem worthwhile to buy a new switch and just use that part rather than gong to trouble of replacing entire switch and the difficult to thread wiring.
Also to me at least, "other forum" seems to have longer tech articles, some posted by our members. Is our tech forum more difficult for a member to post these kind of detailed tech articles?

    Re: '67 turn signal switch

    William,
As far as I know, there are no replacement parts for the '67 turn signal switch.

Yes you can replace the switch by removing the banana connector and threading the wires down the column and the reattaching the terminals into the connector.

Or cut the wires from the new switch and the old switch and solder each old wire onto the new switch's leads.

Or remove the column, checking the lower column bearing for wear (after 49 years their shot most likely), and after disassembling the column, install the new switch, and reassembly of the column, reinstall the column. This is what I did this past winter and was very glad I did as the lower column bearing was destroyed.

If you need any further instructions on how I did it, I'll be glad to go into the minute details.

    PS
While the color coded wires from the TS switch were correct, the colors were not the same hues as the original, and the banana connector on the original is black while the reproduction units have a brown connector.

The light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.
