    58-61 Iron PG

    I've been measning to ask this question after juding at the FL Regional. I usually judge chassis and in this case both cars were 61 PG's, quite unusual, My question is on the front (bellhousing) of the transmission where the torque convert is housed, there is a 1/2" threaded hole in the bottom of the housing. Is there supposed to be a 1/2" plug there or it is left open. Both cars at the meet did not have this plug. Mine did when I bought it 20 years ago. I did ask the team leader, but he did know and there is nothing in the new JGTIM.

    my 57 250 PG had a pipe plug web i bought it in 1970. can't say for sure , but its the original cast iron power glide. mike

      My '57 220 hp /pg didn't have the plug when I bought it in 2002. Never been scored down with out it (National ,Regional,Chapter) FWIW my '57 Belair 180 hp / pg didn't have the plug when I bought it in 1976. Dana

        Mike I've been going back and forth with Rich Mauser on what these plugs are supposed to look like. Mine is a standard plumbing square plug. Rich sent me some photo's but neither of his PG had a plug. Are you able to send me a photo of yours. Thanks

          its a common plumbers pipe plug, four sided. too cold to go out and get pictures. mike
