55 hood release cable

The hood release knob shaft broke away from the cable on my 55. It appears reproduction cables are not available. Is there someone that rehabs the 55 hood release cables and could reattach the knob shaft?

I had to rebuild the cable mechanism on my 54 because I couldn't find anyone else. It wasn't an easy job but I was able to disassemble it and repair the "sticking" problem I was encountering. I might be able to walk you through the process. It would be helpful to see a photo of yours to get an idea of its condition.

Dave, Is it possible that you can find a cable that has a inner cable that will be the correct length and take a 1/16 drill bit and remove the broken cable from handle then install the new cable onto handle and solder the new cable to handle?? Just a thought.
