    NPP Dual mode exhaust

Has anyone used a remote control switch for the late model dual mode exhaust and how did it work for you? They look like they are easy to install if equipped with RPO NPP.

Yes, I have it on my '12 ZR1 and it is fantastic. My wife really likes the fact I can keep it quiet for long trips, and I like the loud noise when I am alone. It is very simple to install and I had no issues with it over the last 3 years.

I installed it on my 2007 ZO6 when I had it. Worked great and very simple install. It was the only "mod" I made.

      Go for it.

Thanks guys. Just ordered it. Agree with the longer trip scenario of a quieter ride with the wife along otherwise I could maybe live with just pulling the fuse. The remote is kinda cool tho.

Have had it on my 2009 base car and also the 2012 Z06, kept the original parts & switched the module to the Z06 when I sold the 2009. Work flawlessly...although I did replace the battery last summer...

One tip, do not put the remote in the console box, it gets way too hot in there and the battery will not last long. I keep mine on the key fob and in my pocket, the battery has lasted a long time.

A cheaper, simpler way of accomplishing this on C6s is to remove the NPP exhaust fuse from the fuse box located under the passenger floor board side carpet (the carpet there just lays on the floorboard w/no adhesive or attachment points). With the fuse out, the exhaust valves stay in open mode and give the desired louder sound and no codes appear. I soon tired of this, however, and re-installed the fuse which re-actuated the valves.

I negotiated the fob/switch set up on my Grand Sport when I bought the car new. I love it for the most part. Friends tell me I need to set it to "OPEN" and then throw the fob out the window.

I do think that at highway speeds, you need to be able to shut it off. I have trouble using the audio system and telephone if cruising with the exhaust open.

I hadn't heard that the console heat causes early demise of the fob's battery. I've kept my fob in the console since new. I'm not sure this was the case of my battery's failure after 5 years, because the main fob's battery AND the spare fob's battery were both dead last spring. A cheap and easy repair...
