    Sagging headliner

    Hello everyone,
I am looking for a new correct white headliner for my 65 coupe due to the material sagging/coming off from the backing. The car has
a number of top flight awards and the Duntov award and will be in Rhode Island for the National Event this year for judging. Any recommendations on where to purchase one that will keep the Judges happy?
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Karl

Check with Corvette America that's where I got my headliner for my 67 Hardtop. I was very happy with it.

It doesn't sound like you have an original headliner for a 65. The originals were a single piece of a pressboard/cardboard type of material with a slight texture on the visible side. I don't believe anyone makes a correct replacement. Many use a later headliner that has a vinyl covering.

The original 64-65 fiber board is a problem to find. No one makes a replacement. The 66 and 67 have a vinyl "glued" to a plastic foam by GM. I never had any luck getting the vinyl to stay glued to plastic on replacements from vendors. The car sitting in a hot garage in the summer, the glue would let go. I tried all the glues; 3M super weatherstrip adhesive, etc. I finally gave up and just painted the plastic liner w/o vinyl.

been there, done that, they won't stay up in the heat long once the originals go, as Ken said I tried everything and found nothing last long. good luck.

Any thoughts on the Al Knoch headliners?

Regardless of what you chose replacing the headliner in my 67 was one of the worst jobs I ever had to do on any year corvette. I don't get how the cars were built so quickly. None of the screw holes lined up easily when I was reassembling. Don't do on a hot day.
