Looking to install the A-Arm flaps. Is there a staple gun that one uses to install the staples? I purchased the staples from corvette central just looking for a way to install the new flaps. I've heard of guys using the pre-existing staple holes (tediously putting them thru the holes and manually bending the backs) but i had my body/paint guy fill them in so I have a fresh start.

Re: 67' A-arm flap staples install
I used the original holes as a template to make holes in the flaps. Then installed new staples thru the new flaps, then the original holes and turned the staple ends in a semi circle using a needle nose pliers. Worked like a charm.- Top

Dave I took my wheel off used the staples as a guide where the holes need to be, used a sharp pointed prodded to make the holes in the rubber flap, poked the staples through the flap then through the small fender holes, then here's the trick get the wife to push the stales hold in place while you get under the wing and bend those staples ends over, I did this process for each one, just take your time.
Beware I have noticed diffent thicknesses to the staples which would indicate some more easier than others.- Top

Re: 67' A-arm flap staples install
In this post there are some photos and a explanation of my process. I use the same process for the big A-Arm seals, splash shields, fan shroud seals etc, C1 & C2.
IIRC, John Hinckley mentioned the staple gun used in St Louis but I'm not sure if it was used before skirt bonding or afterward. It was likely a specialty tool and was used manually with no specific pattern for the staples. I can envision someone simply stapling away sporadically to do their job. In my post above, there was one staple that totally missed the lower horizontal seal originally but they left it there and punched in another near it. I replicated their error to maintain the originality of that little piece of manufacturing history on the '67 of subject.
Also, the engine bay blackout process covered those staples and part of the seals to cover up the bare steel staples.

Dave if you have the old flaps still on car, just straighten the staples out as I did then put on a bench and and take a 1/16 drill bit and use the old holes in flap and reinstall the original staples it worked great for me.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top
