    67 327 350hp oil dipstick tube

    What color should it be?
The repop I just received from the esteemed house in MI is chrome, my original shows alot of black and a slightly different shape but same height.

My original is steel. 1967 327/350 HP 26,000 mile car. The Judging Manual also states/confirms natural, unpainted steel.

Sounds like you got a 66 350 HP dip stick. Per the 66 TIM&JG for L79 350 hp 'The handle and skirt are chrome plated....'

I thought the OP was talking about the dipstick TUBE and not the dipstick itself. That is what the title of his post states.

My question is on the dipstick tube not the stick. For a 1967 327 L79 or 350hp

I don't know of any chrome or black upper dipstick tube that was ever used for 1967 small blocks. The original tube was GM #3876784. I believe this tube was natural steel finish. However, it MAY have been electro-galvanized.

In July, 1974 the 3876784 was discontinued from SERVICE and replaced by GM #3865664 which had originally been used for some 1965+ light trucks with small block. The latter tube has the same developed length as the former but has a very slightly different curvature. The most obvious difference, though, is that the 3876784 has a reduced OD for about the top 1" of its length. The 3865664 has no such reduced OD. Also, I believe the 3865664 was electro-galvanized.
